Weight in Pounds:

What does this mean?

  • Below 18.5 = Underweight
  • 18.5-24.9 = Normal BMI Range
  • 25-29.9 = Overweight
  • 30 or more = Obese

What's the formula for bmi?

The United States formula is (lbs / (height x height)) * 703 where height is the height in inches.

Male BMI vs. Female BMI

Females tend to have a higher bmi due to "breast" tissue and other such things. (Angelina Jolee would have to make an adjustment for here lips). Even though there are noted differences the CDC Center for Disease Control have made a point to not provide secondary formula. The bmi ratio is still the same according to them, and so the BMI Calculator is as well.
