All joking aside there are benefits to breathing "properly" while running long distances. Proper breathing consist of running in a 3:2 ratio for long distances, while running short fast distances you should use a 2:1 breathing ratio.
I'm sure some of you are wondering why? There are a few good reasons.
So besides keeping you alive breathing can (if done correctly) add years to your running career by dispersing the impact from one leg/foot to both legs/feet.
I know it may sound trivial and a hassle but if you just spend a few weeks reprogramming your mind and pace to run correctly you will really benefit from it in the future.
